CLASS POLICY:

It is advisable to sign up for classes at least

1 week before the class date.

We reserve the right to cancel any class due to insufficient amount of sign-ups.  If we cancel a class, you will receive a refund or voucher for another class.

If you need to cancel:  As a courtesy to our teachers and students, we have a 7 working days cancellation policy

(or 30 Days for Special Events).  Refunds/Credits cannot be issued for cancellations less than 7 working days

(or 30 Days for Special Events).

The Basic Serger Instruction Class (Love My Babylock Serger or Sergernomics I) is FREE  

if you purchased your serger at The Sewing & Vacuum Place. 

For Models Baby Lock Evolve, Evolution, or Elna Models 704, 744, 745, 905, 925 & 945:

and you purchased it at The Sewing & Vacuum Place, you may choose ANY ONE ADDITIONAL Serger Class FREE;

Sergernomics 2, Sergernomics 3 OR Cover Hem Class (**see NOTE)

**  NOTE:  For FREE classes, a Refundable Reservation Fee of $20 is required at the time of sign-up.

When you come to class you will receive a $20 Voucher to use for Merchandise

(with a 10% Discount) at The Sewing & Vacuum Place - OR to redeem for Cash.**

POLICY:  Seven business days notice is required in order to transfer the reservation fee

This class is only for the Baby Lock "air threading" sergers. The "air-threading system" is unique to Baby Lock. If your Baby Lock serger is not an "air-threader" you can enroll in the Sergernomics Part 1 class. Once you have completed this class, you can enroll in Sergernomics 2 & 3 with all other brands of sergers.

In the first workshop, you will learn how to thread your machine from scratch and see and correct the most common threading problems. Learn how to adjust your tension settings for any fabric or technique! Adjust your stitch width, stitch length and differential feed settings. Learn why and when to make these adjustments. See how to sew an exact 5/8" seam allowance with a serger.

You will see how to understand the differences in serger threads and how to know what size and type of needle to use. We will cover all the “tools” that came with your serger as well as go over the basics of how to clean and oil your machine.

This is a 3 part "hands-on" series. Students must take Part 1 before taking either Part 2 or 3. Each workshop in this series is a complete Class. Taking Sergernomics Parts 2 & 3 are optional.

This class is for NON-Air Threading Sergers.

In the second workshop, you will learn how to make many different seam types for sewing different fabrics. We will make samples of French seams, flat-felled seams, bound seams, re-enforced seams, and more!

You will learn how to set-up and use the elastic and gathering accessory feet. Learn how to handle elastics in your serger and tricks for making elastic application the easiest ever!

Students must have taken Sergernomics "Part 1" or Baby Lock "Part 1"

DECORATIVE THREADS in your serger!! Use a variety of "special effect" threads in the serger for making unique garments or projects.

We will also cover the uses for rolled hemming and flat locking. Learn how to use the sequin/pearl, and blind hem accessory feet. Learn to use your rolled hem stitch for more than just making napkins.

Students must have taken Sergernomics "Part 1" or Baby Lock "Part 1"

One of the newest features on a serger is the "cover hem" stitch. In this workshop you will learn how to use the cover hem for hemming, applying elastics, topstitching seams, trapunto, attaching lace and more!   This isn’t just a basic "hem" stitch!
